Handwoven Passamaquoddy Sweetgrass Fancy Basket by Deborah Gabriel Brooks

Woven of silky black ash and fragrant Maine saltwater marsh sweetgrass. All natural materials are hand processed. Wood splints are hand split, hand scraped, and hand sized for weaving widths. The weaving pattern style is a traditional porcupine weave from the late 19th century, with a double walled woven structure. This beautiful basket builds a bridge using a contemporary color and shape representing innovation where tradition and contemporary design meet. Dimensions are 5″ diameter x 3.75″ high without the top finial.
