Sweetgrass “Flat” Sewing Basket 8″

The sweetgrass sewing basket, popular around the turn of the century – late 1800s, was highly prized for its value of holding sewing supplies and notions. This 8″ diameter traditional basket created with all sweetgrass braid, stands 2 1/2″ tall. This style of all sweetgrass braid is rare among basket weavers today. Since many of the elder basket weavers have passed, few of the contemporary weavers continue to make this style design. This basket is offered in a traditional style, with the addition of my “signature” braided frog handle. This victorian-style basket will be a stunning addition to your heritage collection and is a favorite for gift-giving and collecting!
